Building an eLearning community with Tutor LMS and BuddyPress

I am launching a paid cohort-based learning program. Tutor LMS is the course engine, but I want students to behave like a community and not just course consumers — they should have profiles, an activity feed, discussion threads, and a clear way to see which courses they are enrolled in from their own profile page. The hard part is getting a theme that styles Tutor LMS nicely and also makes the BuddyPress side feel like the same product rather than two bolted-on plugins.
