Setting up a LearnDash LMS with a community theme on WordPress

I am launching an online course platform with LearnDash and want the site to feel like a learning community, not just a course catalog. Need member profiles, discussion areas, and a theme that makes the course content look polished.

Reign with the LearnDash addon is designed for exactly this. Here is what the combination gives you:

  • Custom course layouts — dedicated design templates for course archive, single course, lesson, topic, assignment, and quiz pages.
  • Distraction-free reading mode — students can toggle a focused view that hides the sidebar and navigation while studying.
  • Course Coming Soon — tease upcoming courses before they launch.
  • Dedicated sidebar widgets — different widgets for course archive, single course, lesson, topic, assignment, and quiz pages. Each page type gets relevant sidebar content.
  • Default cover images — set fallback images for courses and groups with a hierarchy (group > course > global default).
  • BuddyPress integration — add member profiles, groups, activity feeds, and messaging to create the community feel around your courses.

The Reign LearnDash addon also supports dynamic terminology — course labels adapt to your localization (e.g., "Module" instead of "Course" if that is what you prefer).

For live classes, combine with the LearnDash Dashboard plugin which adds Zoom meeting integration directly in the course interface.
